God’s No Gamer

God doesn’t play games, messing with our heads. He makes things clear. When we have trouble understanding which way to go, it’s because we really don’t want to know, we really don’t want to go.

Jms. 4:8a “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

When we are serious about wanting to be close to God and know the kind of person he would have us be, because we intend to cooperate as he makes us that kind of person, he makes it clear. The very desire to be close to him is his gift to us. Even our desire to obey is his gift to us.

Sometimes we need to pray, “God, please increase my desire to be close to you.” Sometimes it’s, “God, please give me the desire even to want to come closer to you.” Some are standing at a greater distance than that, “God, give me the desire to desire to want to come close to you,” or “God, my heart needs changing and I’m not sure I want the changes. Do what you need to do!”

No matter how far you are from the jumping-off point, God is willing to meet you there and move you forward. Where are you?
