Psalm 49:1-9

No human being can redeem the life of another, to secure his eternity. The ransom for a life is costly, no payment we can make is ever enough to guarantee our soul will not see destruction and condemnation. We must have what Christ provided.

Pay attention to what I say, all you who live on this earth. Whatever your social, ethnic or financial status, give heed! I have given attention to the Proverbs; I will explain something complicated and declare unto you words of wisdom and understanding.

When the day of my death draws near I will not fear, no matter who seeks to deceive me about eternity, or who says great wealth secures eternal blessing. No human being can redeem the life of another, to secure his eternity. The ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough to guarantee a soul will not see destruction and condemnation.

As I read what the Psalmist expressed he knew at this point in time, I am drawn to worship my Savior who provided that very costly ransom for my soul, guaranteeing my redemption from the condemnation my sinfulness deserves.
