Psalm 80

Hear us, O Pastor of Israel, the one who has shepherded us as a beloved flock. O God who dwells in the Most Holy Place between the cherubim, shine forth in power and save us from destruction! Turn toward us once again, O God, and cause your face to shine on us with mercy so we may be rescued from certain annihilation.

How long will you angrily reject the prayers of your people who mourn more often than we eat? Our enemies now mock rather than fear us. Turn toward us once again, O God, and cause your face to shine on us with mercy so we may be rescued from certain annihilation.

You brought a mere root out of bondage in Egypt, planted it in Canaan and caused it to thrive. Now you are destroying it.

Preserve your promise to raise up a strong son of man for yourself. We will not reject you; we will call upon your name. Turn toward us once again, O God, and cause your face to shine on us with mercy so we may be rescued from certain annihilation.
