Psalm 143:1-9

O Lord God, I am deeply grateful that you hear my plea for mercy. Because you are faithful and completely trustworthy, you do not treat me as my sinfulness deserves but instead you cover me with mercy. All we, like sheep go astray; all are condemned unless you extend mercy.

Enemies of my soul pursue me relentlessly, seeking to pull me away from you into the darkness. My spirit grows faint in the battle until I remember without you I can do nothing to resist them. I am needy for you. Come to my rescue before they overtake me and drag me down. Let each new dawn reassure me of your unfailing love and protection.
