Psalm 150

Boast in your God! Praise him with your church family; praise him to his high heavens. His mighty deeds on your behalf deserve great praise. Celebrate his excellent character.

Use any instruments you have available: lute, harp, tambourine, pipes, all strings and loud, clashing, exciting cymbals! And dance; don’t forget to express your joy in dance!

Let everything and everyone to whom God has given breath use it to praise him!

Boast in Jehovah!

Psalm 149

Hallelujah! Compose new songs of praise to be lifted up with enthusiasm when we gather together to worship and when we are alone in our homes. Be glad in the Lord; rejoice! Make music, dance and sing because he has pleasure in our praise. Let us, the humble he has adorned with salvation, exult in testimony to his glory, singing for joy with the high praise of God coming from our hearts to our song.

In the midst of our praise let us also always be ready for battle against our enemies, the world culture that would conform us to be just like everyone else, our own flesh that wants its own way and Satan himself – all seeking to pull us away from God. This war is real and continuous. We fight always, in the grace and strength of our God.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 148

Live a life that praises God! Praise him wherever you are, whoever you are, whatever your station in life. He commanded and all creation came into being, including you and me. He sets us in place as he desires, for his glory and our very best ultimate good.

From the smallest to the largest creatures, all nature does his bidding. He is the Blessed Controller of the fearsome oceans and unpredictable weather patterns and he deserves our praise.

All kings and rulers, let his name be exalted high above your own. Young men and girls, older men and women along with little children, come and praise the Lord for he alone is inaccessibly lofty and exalted. His splendor is above the earth and the heavens.

He lifts up and gives strength to those who love him, the people close to his heart. O, come and praise the Lord!

Psalm 147:12-20

Be enthusiastic in your praise of Jehovah, O Jerusalem! Rave about him in celebration for he chose you out of all the nations to make you strong, to bless your children, to give you peace in your borders and fill you with good food.

He cares for you even in the face of severe weather. He has declared his Word and his statutes to you. He has not done this for any other nation; none were given his decrees. It is to you he entrusted them!

Psalm 147:1-11

Boast in God! We are to sing praise to him because he is beautiful in every way and deserving of our praise. He strengthens the one in whom he dwells, mending broken hearts and healing wounds.

Our God has determined the number of stars in the heavens and calls each one by name! He is noble and mighty in power; his wisdom is beyond measure. Jehovah lifts up those who are humble before him but casts away those who remain rebellious and wicked.

Let your songs and your hearts be full of gratitude for his provision of rain and food for us and all his creation. He is not impressed with the strength of our war machinery, nor with the physical appearance or fitness of our troops. He does take pleasure in those who revere him and put their confidence in his loyal, covenant love.

Psalm 146

O my soul, boast and celebrate God! I will sing my praise to the Lord as long as he gives me breath to do so.

Obey the laws of the land but don’t place your confidence in frail human leaders. They are unable to protect or save or keep their promises. They leave office and another takes their place with new ideas. Genuinely blessed in the one who places confidence in the God of Jacob, trusting him to keep his promises.

This is Elohim who created heaven and earth and all that is in them. He keeps faith forever, executing justice for the oppressed, providing food for the hungry. The Lord proclaims freedom for those in bondage and sight for the blind. He lifts up those who are weighed down by life; he watches over travelers. He cares for the widow and the orphan. The Lord loves those he wraps in his righteousness but the wicked who reject him he brings to ruin.

Jehovah reigns from eternity past to eternity future, to all generations, time without end. This is the Lord we praise!!

Psalm 145:13b-21

You love us and you are completely trustworthy and faithful to all your promises. The ultimate fulfillment of all your promises is found in your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

You lift up those who are weighed down and fall, showing compassion on the weak and restoring the erring. In your open-handed love you provide all that is needed for every living thing you created.

You fulfill every expectation in your love toward all you have made. You remain close to all who turn to you and love you, fulfilling their desire for rescue and saving them. You maintain a protective watch over those who love you but those who reject you will be destroyed.

My speech will be filled with praise of Jehovah. Let all flesh render praise and adoration forever in honor of his pure character.
